18-year old Andrew (AJ) began his journey at MOB in Term 2, 2020, shortly after we opened our doors. AJ was one of the first cohorts along with 30 others to complete our program and has been on an upwards trajectory to success ever since with new career opportunities.
AJ was first introduced to Men of Business Academy (MOB) by GENZ employment who believed we would be the right fit for his final year of schooling.
“Before MOB I was going down the wrong path, I was mixing with the wrong crowd with a lot of drugs and alcohol constantly around me. I didn’t know how to pull myself out of it.” Said AJ.
“MOB helped me put my life back on track and stopped me from making worse decisions for myself. Everyone helped me realise what life is really about and I think they helped me become a better version of who I use to be. The support I got from the entire team, especially Marco and Damien, pushed me to do better and never gave up on me even when I slipped up.”
AJ chose to study at MOB due to the job opportunities and community contacts the school provides.
“Marco helped get me an job interview at Redback Radiators with Clive where I have been working in assembly ever since. Working at Redback Radiators has shown me the importance of work ethic and has helped me build work relationships and made me more motivated to save for my future.” He said.
Now 19 years old, AJ has opened a bank account and saved enough money to buy his first car. He has short term goals for the future to move in with his girlfriend and to pursue an apprenticeship in construction.
AJ’s advice to other young men feeling lost with their lives is to embrace the opportunities you are given and to give everything a go.
“My long-term goal is to start my own civil construction company and buy my nana whatever she wants. MOB is the best thing I have ever done; I will always be thankful for the opportunities they have provided and I hope to make them proud in the future.”
