Breaking the Cycle: MOB Academy Hosts Small Steps 4 Hannah

This week, MOB Academy had the privilege of hosting Dave, a close friend of Hannah Clarke and a representative of the Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation. Established in memory of Hannah and her children, Aaliyah, Laianah, and Trey, tragically lost to domestic violence, the foundation works tirelessly to HALT the cycle of domestic violence and create a future where everyone feels safe.

Dave’s visit sparked a powerful conversation with our students, challenging them to examine rigid societal beliefs surrounding masculinity and femininity. He highlighted how these ingrained notions can contribute not only to domestic violence, but also to men’s mental health and suicide.

Through his impactful message, Dave emphasized the importance of fostering emotional support networks between young men. He stressed the crucial role men can play in promoting safety by holding each other accountable and creating healthy emotional spaces.

“This is absolutely part of my mission to support young men to not only contribute to safety but to also feel safe themselves. These last two days at MOB Academy have certainly been part of the legacy I want to leave for Hann and the kids,” Dave shared.

MOB Academy is deeply grateful for Dave’s dedication and the opportunity to learn from Small Steps 4 Hannah. We are committed to fostering a generation of young men who understand the importance of emotional intelligence, respect, and healthy relationships. We stand with the foundation in their quest to ensure no family endures the pain of domestic violence again.
