Building Tomorrow’s Leaders: Aspire42 Teams Up with MOB Academy

In today’s competitive job market, gaining practical experience and mentorship can be crucial for young individuals navigating their career paths. Recognizing this, MOB Academy and Aspire42 have joined forces to provide valuable opportunities for youth to excel in their chosen fields.

Luke and Finlay embarked on their journey with Aspire42 four months ago, following a meticulous interview process facilitated by MOB Academy. Finlay, interested in Finance, and Luke, focusing on Marketing, underwent a series of interviews after a guided tour of Aspire42 by MOB’s Head of Pathways, Nathan Antonik.

Nathan reflects on the process, stating, “We took a large group of boys for a tour of Aspire42 in Term 4 last year. All interested students then had to fill in an application, participate in a group interview and then individual interviews. It was a robust process which was good for all parties involved so everyone knows what they are getting.”

Kirsty Perkins, CEO of Aspire42 Foundation, acknowledges the enthusiasm and dedication exhibited by Luke and Finlay. “They were interested. They wanted the opportunity, and we wanted to give it to them,” Kirsty states. Both Luke and Finlay initially started working three days a week but expressed a strong desire to contribute more, eventually transitioning to full-time roles.

“Finlay is looking into university so he can contribute more to the finance team should he decide he wants to stay with us full-time. Luke is learning from every person in the marketing team; he’s really excelling,” Kirsty adds, highlighting their commitment and potential.

Nathan emphasizes the importance of gradual integration into the workforce, stating, “Starting students in work slowly is to safeguard the students and employers.” He appreciates Aspire 42’s approach in transitioning Luke and Finlay from three to five days gradually, ensuring they have the support and guidance needed to thrive.

“If businesses went through traditional interviews and hiring processes there is a really low chance our boys would get chosen. A lot of our lads just need that chance and the opportunity to be chosen,” Nathan remarks, emphasizing the significance of providing opportunities to youth who may not otherwise have access to them.”

Looking ahead, Kirsty expresses Aspire42’s commitment to hiring from MOB Academy, stating, “We definitely would hire from MOB Academy, we want to give everyone a chance and the opportunity that may not get the opportunity somewhere else.”

Stay tuned for more success stories and collaborations as we continue to build bridges between education and industry.
